The under $1 liver cleanse you can do every day

The under $1 liver cleanse you can do every day

Let’s not overcomplicate wellness for ourselves, people!

Watch the video here.

Sometimes we can royally complicate wellness. There are so many things you can mix into your drinks these days and subscriptions up the wazoo. But how about the "original" liver cleanse that costs less than $1 (or <$1.50 for organic): fresh lemon juice!

Squeezing lemon wedges into your daily water is probably the least bougie thing you can do for your wellness! It's so cheap and easy and it can have a profound impact on your liver function.

Fun Fact: Lemon juice diluted in water is the best way to go because pure lemon juice or sucking on lemons can erode your tooth enamel.

Liver, the Great Detoxifier

Your liver is the powerhouse detoxifier of your body. It’s the blood’s filtration system. Think of all the things it helps you process: environmental pollutants, germs and invading bacteria, prescription drugs, alcohol, all of your food, and more. Go, liver, go! Giving that bad boy some love can do a body good.

How Lemon Juice Supports the Liver

Research shows that lemons may reduce chronic alcohol-induced liver damage, help the liver produce more enzymes (these speed up chemical reactions like digestion), have antioxidants that reduce inflammation, fight oxidative damage and improve the body’s ability to process glucose.

What’s in Lemon Juice?

Lemon juice is high in vitamin C, which is great for immunity and your skin. (Side note: Your skin, the largest organ, can offer a reflection of what’s going on inside your body.) It also provides potassium and vitamin B6. Bonus for your kidneys: The citric acid helps prevent kidney stones.

Choose Fresh Lemons Over Bottled Lemon Juice

Use the real fruit over bottled lemon juice because the pasteurization process kills off some of the good stuff and bottled can contain sulphites as preservatives that some folks are sensitive to. Also, fresh tastes better.

Cheers to your new (or old) main squeeze!
